Swift began to develop an interest in musical instruments as a young person and quickly progressed from playing in kids' shows, and then making her first public appearance the front of a crowd. Swift had taken her influences from the music of Shania Twain and that of her band the Dixie Chicks now known as The Chicks within the realm of country music, created the original songs she wrote to express her feelings of alienation. Swift's parents moved her from Pennsylvania to Tennessee at 13 after selling their Pennsylvania farm. This allowed Swift to spend more time trying to find labels that would promote traditional music from Nashville.
